I imagine there's a fair share of JWs on this message board that are still going out in field service going through the motions. I wonder how much of an impact it would have to insert apostate paraphenalia within the very literature placed?

Advertising the REAL Jehovah's Witnesses when I can...
by okage intoday, my wife went to labcorp to take a pre-employment drug screening.
she doesnt have a driver's license, so i took her.. in the waiting room, with the magazines were a copy of atalaya (watchtower) and despertad (awake).
it'd be nice to think they were left by a jw who decided then and there that she'd had enough of the lies, but from what i gathered on jwn, it was probably a lazy publisher counting it as perpetual service hours.. anyway, on the back of both, i left the message "for more information about jehovah's witnesses please google candace conti.".

I like how the appropriate forms should be sent to the branch. Committees, procedures, appeal processes, publishers, forms, branch offices, magazines, brochures, 6 month adjustment periods, etc.. Welcome to Corporate Christianity.

Something humorous, at least to me, is on this file related to the RBC about dress and physical readiness when on site. They reference their literature to remind workers to be well rested and to drink water. Is there any denomination on this planet that insists it's pew maintain it's lips on the tits of it's clergy class as much as the WT/JW relationship?

I'd like to see the form elders are to use when they've got a potential pedophile situation.

Anybody else kinda intrigued about Oprah interviewing Lance Armstrong?
by Theocratic Sedition ini'm a bit excited about this to be honest with you.
i'm not even remotely a cycling fan, but all this controversy made it a bit difficult to simply ignore.
i'm curious to see how he does when those questions come at him full force.

Boundary Changes for Congregations and Secrecy
by Vienna Angelika inright now the congregations in winnipeg are undergoing major boundary changes which will be put in action at the beginning of february.
our congregation is supposed to find out today but i decided to ask some people i knew who went the previous meeting if we were going to be put together with the people at our old congregation who are shunning me.
even though they knew, they refused to tell me because "the society" told them not to tell us.

Yes they are shrinking. Everyone is dying! Our old congregation was made up of 90% seniors!
I gave a talk away at a congregation in a rural area. It looked like a AARP meeting.

In fairness, I should say that the stepson claims that Jerry is really a pretty good guy to work for - so long as you are on his good side. So, my problem with him is team recruitment and coaching issues but not his integrity as a businessman.
You sound like my uncle who's a die hard Cowboy fan. He's still bitter after Jimmy Johnson got axed years ago which at the time didn't make an iota of sense after the guy delivers you two championships. I'm surprised Parsons lasted as long as he did.

Thank you for posting this!!! This paragraph is a humdinger!!!
Supportive communities for people coming out of religion. With or without the net (but especially with it) believers sometimes find their worldview in pieces. Before the internet existed most people who lost their faith kept their doubts to themselves. There was no way to figure out who else might be thinking forbidden thoughts. In some sects, a doubting member may be shunned, excommunicated, or “disfellowshipped” to ensure that doubts don’t spread. So, doubters used keep silent and then disappear into the surrounding culture. Now they can create websites, and today there are as many communities of former believers as there are kinds of belief. These communities range from therapeutic to political, and they cover the range of sects: Evangelical, Mormon, Jehovah’s Witness, and Muslim. There’s even a web home for recovering clergy. Heaven help the unsuspecting believer who wanders into one of these sites and tries to tell members in recovery that they’re all bound for hell.
This paragraph reminds me of the old saying about how tyrants used to hang people by the rope, now they do it by the pen. Same with organized religion, especially organizations like the WT/JWs. People with their mentality used to burn people at the stake, and think about all of the ingenious methods of torture that came to fruition during the Dark Ages. Today, they can't physically do people like that any more for legal concerns, and the WT has even acknowledged that their hands are tied due to the legal ramifications. So they resort to killing someone socially, financially, spiritually, emotionally, amongst other ways shunning destroys a person. In some cases the WT even gets lucky and a person commits suicide. It's nice that the internet has provided a social cushion to combat the sometimes deadly affect of shunning.

From this week's Congregation Bible Study, the first 8 paragraphs of chapter 4 in the Jeremiah book. Page 44 as follows.
In our case, we certainly do not think of ourselves as worshippers of idol gods. However, under the heading of "god", one dictionary says: A person or thing of supreme value." Many people in the world place first in life their career, health, family, and even pets. Others consider sports, celebrities, technology, travel, or their traditions to be of supreme of value. Many pursue such things at the cost of their relationship with the Creator. Could true Christians be affected, even as were people of Judah in Jeremiah's day?
Page 45, paragraphs 6, 7
Today, we are not under Sabbath law. Yet, there is a warning lesson in the way those people reacted, showing their heart condition. (Col.2:16) In order to do God's will, we have put aside our selfish or mundane pursuits. We realize how foolish it would be to choose for ourselves a conventient way to please God. And we have likely come to know many who have concentrated on doing God's will and have indeed found that to be refreshing, restful. Hence , how might we be misled?
A Christian might mistakenly think that his heart could never deceive him, as happened to many in Jeremiah's day. For example, a man might reason, "I have to hold down a job to support my family, " which is understandable. What if that led him to think, "I need more education to secure or hold a decent job?" That too might seem logical, leading him to conclude, "Times have changed, and to survive today you need to get a college or university education to hold on to your job." However easily one might start to minimize the wise, balanced advice from the faithful and discreet slave class about additional education and start to miss meetings! In this are, some have have gradually been molded by the world's reasonings and views. (Eph. 2:2, 3) The Bible aptly warns us: "Don't let the world around you squeeze you into its own mould."-Rom. 12:2, Phillips*
* The NET Bible (2005) reads: "Do not be conformed to this present world." A footnote adds: "It is very telling that being "conformed" to the present world is viewed as a passive notion, for it may suggest that it happens, in part, subconsciously. At the same time, ... there may be some consciousness of the conformity taking place. Most likely, it is a combination of both."
Ya gotta love it.
